LUSAKA, ZAMBIA — September 2026 — MECANMED renewed its scholarship pact with the University of Lusaka (UNILUS) for three more years. This move extends the MECANMED Future Scholarship Program. It supports academically talented students who face real financial challenges.

The renewal follows the program’s first scholarship awards in June 2026 and marks a continued commitment to educational opportunities in Zambia.

During the ceremony, Derrick, representing MECANMED, and Professor Jere, representing UNILUS, formally exchanged the renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

From the First Scholarship Awards to a Three-Year Renewal

The partnership began in September 2025, when MECANMED and UNILUS signed their first scholarship agreement. This project aimed to support academically promising students who face real financial challenges.

Following the initial scholarship awards and continued cooperation between the two organizations, both parties agreed to extend the program for three consecutive academic years, beginning in July 2026.

Speaking at the renewal ceremony, Professor Jere highlighted the importance of financial assistance for academically capable students.

“Some of our students are very good academically, but they face challenges in financing their education. These scholarships make a difference in their lives because they can mean the difference between continuing their studies and being unable to continue.”

He also expressed the university’s appreciation for MECANMED’s continued commitment, thanking the company on behalf of UNILUS and its Vice-Chancellor.

How the MECANMED Future Scholarship Program Works

Under the renewed agreement, MECANMED will provide three partial scholarships annually. Each selected student will receive USD 1,200 per academic year.

This represents a commitment of USD 3,600 annually and USD 10,800 over the three-year period.

The scholarships are open to undergraduate students across academic programs, from their second year onward. Selection prioritizes students who demonstrate both academic merit and significant financial need.

Speaking on behalf of MECANMED, Derrick explained the purpose of the renewed agreement:

“Both parties share a mutual commitment to advancing higher education and supporting academically talented students who face financial challenges, enabling them to realize their full potential.”

He noted that the program offers partial financial assistance, drives academic excellence, and builds a sustainable scholarship plan.

Under the renewed agreement, MECANMED and UNILUS will jointly review the program’s implementation and outcomes at the end of each academic year.

Building on MECANMED’s Partnership with UNILUS

MECANMED’s partnership with UNILUS extends beyond the scholarship program. The company has previously supplied medical equipment to UNILUS Hospital, reflecting its existing cooperation with the university in healthcare.

As a medical equipment supplier, MECANMED serves hospitals, clinics, and educational institutions across Africa and Southeast Asia. We understand that healthcare development requires both reliable medical equipment and skilled professionals.

By supporting learners across diverse fields, the MECANMED Future Scholarship Program shows the company’s commitment to education beyond healthcare.

Continuing MECANMED’s Commitment to Education in Zambia

Through annual scholarships, cooperation with UNILUS, and regular program reviews, both organizations aim to help more students overcome financial barriers and pursue their academic ambitions.

The renewal reflects MECANMED’s continued commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) through educational support and long-term cooperation with local institutions in Zambia.

For MECANMED, supporting the next generation of professionals in Zambia is part of its broader mission: Make World Better.
