The 2025 China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) concluded successfully this week, marking another milestone in the growing partnership between China and Africa. As a major platform for economic and trade cooperation under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), CAETE has evolved into a cornerstone event for deepening mutual ties, enhancing development opportunities, and fostering strategic collaboration between Chinese and African nations.

Held in Changsha, Hunan Province, this year’s Expo drew high-level participation from both regions. Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and China’s Foreign Minister, delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of building a high-quality China-Africa community with a shared future. From the African side, prominent leaders such as Ugandan Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Liberian Vice President Jeremiah Koung, and Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, were in attendance, all affirming their countries’ commitment to strengthening cooperation with China.
Shen Xiaoming, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, also addressed the Expo, underlining Hunan’s strategic role in advancing China-Africa engagement. The opening ceremony was presided over by Governor Mao Weiming of Hunan Province. Additional attendees included ministers from African nations, ambassadors to China, representatives from the African Union Commission and international organizations, as well as senior officials from China’s Ministry of Commerce and other relevant departments.

Themed “New Vision, New Development”, the 2025 CAETE brought together over 1,500 exhibitors and delegations from 53 African countries. Key sectors showcased included agriculture, infrastructure, digital economy, education, and healthcare. Several agreements were signed during the event, covering trade financing, industrial capacity building, and cross-border e-commerce. Importantly, the Expo offered African countries a platform not only to present their investment potential but also to seek advanced technologies and services that can accelerate progress across critical sectors—especially public health.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was also highlighted as a vital framework supporting Africa’s growth. Health cooperation emerged as one of the Expo’s focal areas, with several discussions dedicated to improving Africa’s medical capacity, particularly through Chinese investments in equipment, telemedicine, and public health infrastructure. The spirit of “shared future” echoed throughout the Expo, reinforcing the long-standing solidarity between the two regions.
As a brand deeply committed to improving healthcare outcomes in Africa, MeCanMed was proud to participate in the 2025 China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. Our booth drew attention from both institutional buyers and medical professionals eager to explore high-quality, reliable medical equipment suited to the unique needs of African communities.
At the Expo, MeCanMed displayed a curated selection of advanced medical products, including surgical tables, diagnostic X-ray machines, portable ultrasound devices, patient monitors, and mobile clinic solutions suitable for both urban hospitals and remote communities. We also showcased our all-in-one “New Hospital Solution”, tailored to meet the diverse healthcare needs of African nations by offering integrated and scalable solutions for outpatient, surgical, and emergency care.

MeCanMed’s engagement in Africa extends well beyond trade exhibitions. In 2024, our company made a meaningful contribution to local healthcare by donating patient monitors to the Rivers State Government in Nigeria.
As part of our long-term commitment, MeCanMed continues to provide technical support, clinical training, equipment installation, and maintenance services to our African partners. We work closely with ministries of health, hospitals, and NGOs to ensure that our equipment is not only delivered on time but also fully functional and well-integrated into local health systems.

For MeCanMed, the event reaffirmed our brand’s vision—to be a reliable partner in Africa’s medical development journey. We are proud to contribute not just equipment, but also expertise, service, and above all, trust.
We thank the organizers of CAETE and all the distinguished guests who visited our booth. Together, with aligned goals and collaborative efforts, we are confident that the China-Africa partnership will continue to yield transformative outcomes—especially in the field of healthcare.
